She looks forward to this day with great anticipation,
The day her beloved son returns home, if only for a short time,
Time spent together is precious and few,
Suspended time in the great web of life’s universe
The sleepless nights,
Many filled with pain, fear and sadness,
All forgotten once held,
In the oving arms of her son come home
Pride for her son she wears like a badge of honour,
For her soldier son,
Great love encompassing her smile,
As she spots her boy coming towards her,
In a crowd of strangers,
All feels right in the world at this particular moment
Happiness has returned,
The cloud lifted, returning clear skies,
She feels complete now-her son is home,
For as long as it lasts,
Until she has to let him go again
The returning clouds are coming,
Sleepless nights begin again,
Today her son leaves to a life,
The she doesn’t quite believe in,
But support for him she does with a mother’s great love
Back at the airport,
She watches him go again,
And with each time he leaves,
Another piece of her heart goes with him
The sorrow she feels as she watches him march away,
Time after time,
If felt that sorrow would bring the world to it’s knees,
Him off to protect the country,
Her off to try and make it through another day,
Without the son she so desperately loves
